"STRATEGY"
Rules!... |
|
The more strategic you are in any given situation, the more likely you are to be successful. It may take what you think is more time, but if you have ever been injured you know what I mean. Once you're down, and you're out, so is the metabolism. If we are to restructure and rehabilitate it, we must be up and riding. R4YL! was born because of an injury. Injury is not a bad thing. It just sucks! I want to do everything I can to avoid injury. For you and myself. That does not mean I am not active. On the contrary, it just means I am present and as prepared as I can be. That's what I want to train you to do on your own. SITTING on the bike. Shouldn't be that hard right? Do not allow yourself to slump,
slouch, let the belly protrude, or just plain hang out. You must sit OUT
of the seat. Pull the abdomen (abs) in to yourself. Since we have to sit on the bike anyway, you may as well get the most out of it. This will be the hardest part because it's constant. In the beginning, if it's too hard to stay 'upright', then bring arms down to rest on handle bars, but keep the abdomen pulled into your spine. Then go back to it. This may not make sense at the moment, but little by little the center will get strong enough to do it all the time. This way you are protecting and strengthening your back, sculpting the abs, making the metabolism, mind and heart work harder thus burning more FAT! Now you tell me can we be more STRATEGIC? Then when we add arms, weights, bars and bands...we're ready. When we're out running around, lifting things, vacuuming, raking shoveling--we don't strain our back, neck, and shoulders. It's not so you can look pretty on the bike, it's so you can do the most to stay out of harm's way. Why wait to hurt yourself to learn how to take care of yourself. That's not very strategic...Take this slow. Don't demand it. The body has to build a certain amount of muscle and connection. Take the time to do this. This is why I emphasize, no TV, no distractions. Use a mirror, and work a little bit everyday. You have been living in your body a particular way for years. Give it time to lengthen and get strong. |
