Balance

To function at maximum performance in any area of our lives, balance is the factor that pulls all the WORK together, and keeps it from feeling like "just work." Balance is cultivated. Balance is achieved with time, commitment and relaxation. This may mean confusion, anger and pain. But, if the feelings, frustration and struggle are ignored, you run the risk of just moving through and not experiencing. It never "being enough." It's the sensations, the length, the strength, the even-ness in our bodies, the energy flowing that will keep us riding. Balance endows us with the ability to make healthy decisions, discover moderation and stay safe. That doesn't mean you never eat chocolate cake, have a drink or take a calculated risk. That would be boring and not at all likely for the majority of us. Nor do I think very healthy. There are so many flavors to taste. Activities to par take. Places to go. Balance allows you objectivity and that moment to think before making choices or reacting. It keeps us on our toes. It maintains weight and symmetry. And honors the center of gravity while still, or in movement. Balance is the resilience to keep going even in tough times, keep our integrity during challenges and demonstrates peace. Balance is a miracle in itself. It is constant, like health. Seek balance not only in your body, but schedules, meals, family, careers, self- care and spirituality. Making time for health, which is the balance of body, mind, spirit and in turn emotion, will add years of quality to your life. Start with this easy exercise.
