The
Cat
This
exercise is the most valuable exercise I can ever pass on to
you. Not only will it lengthen the spine, but also it will help
target the abdominal muscles. We can get very specific in this
yoga position know as the Cat.
Note
the curving of the spine like a scared kitty.
Do not expect
your body to do what Joy's is doing right away. This is a lifetime
process and you are where you are. Joy has worked hard
on sculpting her body. She is a perfect example of what you
want to try and FEEL in your body.
On
your hands and knees, Curve the spine towards the ceiling. Do
not hold the breath. Keeping the shoulders out of the ears,
Exhale the air out, Pulling the belly into the lower spine,
Looking down and focusing on the sheet of muscle, otherwise
know as your abdomen. Keep pulling in. 
No
matter how much "protection" you have covering them
at present...Keep it in. Bring the butt to the heals. Relax
and JUST BE! (if you don't know how to do that, WORK on it!)
REST. Do it again.
Keep
going for more and more connection.
Remember
:
"YOU NEVER GET "THERE". GO DEEPER...
We
need to get in touch with our own control. It's in the center.
The low gut. That is where the true essence of power and spirit
lie. Be willing. Take this seriously. If we can learn to
manipulate this muscle, we live in a much safer place.
GOAL:
TO CONNECT THE LOWER ABS INTO THE LOWER SPINE
ON THE EXHALE.
